For this project in Lower Moreland Township, Pennsylvania, we responded to a situation where the existing garage door had fallen from the ceiling, causing significant damage to the door system and opener. When a garage door loses its structural support, it can become unsafe to operate and requires immediate professional repair or replacement.
After inspecting the garage door structure and hardware, we determined that the safest and most reliable solution was a complete replacement of the door, opener, and mounting supports.
Our team began by safely removing the damaged 16′ x 7′ steel garage door and Genie opener. Because the previous system had failed at the ceiling supports, careful removal was necessary to prevent additional damage and prepare the space for proper installation.
Ensuring that the mounting system is secure is essential when installing a new garage door system, especially for larger residential doors.
To replace the damaged unit, we installed a Clopay 4050 insulated garage door in white.
This door features:
6.5 R-value insulation to help improve energy efficiency
Durable steel construction for long-term performance
A clean white finish that blends well with most home exteriors
Proper installation and alignment help ensure smooth operation and reliable performance for years to come.
To complete the new system, we installed a LiftMaster 2220L chain drive trolley garage door opener.
The opener installation included:
Built-in security camera
All necessary components and controls
New mounting hangers for secure ceiling attachment
This upgrade provides dependable operation while adding modern convenience and enhanced garage security.
Because the original door fell from the ceiling, reinforcing the support structure was a critical step in the installation.
Our team installed new perforated angle supports to properly secure the garage door and opener system. These supports help distribute weight evenly and ensure the system remains safely mounted.
After installation, we disposed of all debris and removed the old materials, leaving the workspace clean and organized.
The new garage door system was then tested through multiple cycles to confirm smooth operation, proper balance, and reliable performance.
The garage door is now securely installed, structurally supported, and operating safely.
At Charming Exteriors, we focus on proper installation, structural safety, and long-term reliability for every garage door project.
