For this project in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, we serviced a fiberglass flat roof that had been installed approximately two years prior but was experiencing a consistent leak in the eaves box area during rainfall. The issue was causing water intrusion and required a solution that would address both the leak and the overall roof performance.
Upon inspection, we also identified ponding water on the main roof, which can accelerate wear and lead to ongoing moisture problems if not properly corrected.
The leak was traced to the eaves box area, where improper drainage was causing water to back up. Additionally, we found that:
The roof outlet was set too high, contributing to water accumulation
There was spray foam used in gaps, which is not ideal for long-term waterproofing in this application
Ponding conditions were present, increasing the risk of recurring leaks
These issues required both corrective work and a protective coating system to restore proper function.
Before applying the new system, we performed thorough roof preparation to ensure proper adhesion and performance.
This included:
Full roof inspection
Power washing the surface to remove dirt and debris
Allowing the roof to fully dry before application

Resetting the eaves box to improve drainage
Applying the silicone coating at the manufacturer-required thickness
Extending the coating system up to the top step landing for full coverage

After installation, we conducted a final inspection to ensure complete coverage and proper application of the coating system.
